What is the going rate of Treasury bills?
Since the bills are issued by tender, the Department may only provide an indication to the going rate of the bills.

Am I informed when the dividend payment is due?
Yes, the current policy of the Department is to send the counterfoil to your residential address.

When is the 15% withholding tax option changed?
The tax option is changed from the first dividend of the calendar year in question, provided the first instalment has not already been paid.

Salaries

When is the service provided?
If the application is received before the 15th of the month, the payment of the salary at the end of the month (and in subsequent months) is deposited in the specified bank account. Otherwise the procedure commences the following month.

How do I know the money has been deposited?
The paying department delivers a pay slip on which are shown all the details for the current month, and the amounts to date. A final summary (FS3) is furnished immediately after a calendar year's end.

Are there any charges for this service?
The service by the Treasury is completely free of charge. It is also in the interest of the commercial banks to attract deposits so currently there are no bank charges. You may find this deposit attractive since the banks pay interest on the money kept in the account.

Pensions

Am I eligible for a treasury pension?
You are eligible for a treasury pension if you are a Government employee who joined the service prior to the 15th January 1979, on reaching the age of 60 or if boarded-out to reach pensionability page. This also includes the Police, AFM, Correctional Facilities, and Government personnel who moved to public entities.

When is my entitlement for the year made known?
If the application is received before the 10th of the month, the payment of the pension at the end of the month reflects the new pension rate for the year. You also receive a breakdown of any reductions effected as a result of the information that was submitted.

What happens if the declaration is not submitted?
In this case, the pension is withheld indefinitely.
